Putting Off Medications As Band-Aid Solutions And Into Real, Permanent Change
Band-Aid Solutions: Using Drugs And Medications
In this episode, I wanted to talk to you about some interesting things. When I talk with somebody one-on-one, I always get inspired and want to help people clean up their minds and the things that are holding them back. There are always challenges in life and it’s how we deal with them that gets us through it. I do a lot of coaching and traveling all over the world. We went to Singapore, the different cultures and the different mindsets of everybody. Everybody is in a different mindset.
Whenever I coach somebody, the one thing I asked for is that you have a not necessarily a clear mind, but clear and free of any altering substance drugs, whether it be prescription drugs or anything of that nature. Here’s the reason why. If you want to make a change in life and you’re conditioning or giving your body chemicals that are not supposed to be in there, how are you ever going to make a permanent change? What’s happening is, I can’t help you go in there and make a change or something, give you a new meaning for something if you’ve chemically altered your body because it’s going to affect your mind.
If you’re taking something and it is making you feel a certain way. Whatever prescription that you are prescribed and it’s not making you feel because you want to avoid something that you don’t want to deal with, how are you ever going to learn the lesson? When you say, “I want to take it because I don’t like the way I feel.” The way you feel is there for a reason and a purpose. The gift is the pain, but you’re not getting the lesson so you’re continuing. What you want to do is you want to alter that. “I don’t like the way I feel, what am I going to do?” What does society do to this day? They get you to repress it, forget about it and deal with it by not handling it.
You’re not fixing the problem, you’re putting a Band-Aid on the situation that’s causing you to alter the truth. The truth is you are going through something for a reason. You can’t help somebody else if you’re not experiencing some of the pain. When you asked for something in your life like, “I want to help other people. I want to get them to the next level,” and you’re adamant about it and you truly want to. As soon as you get a little bit of pain in your life, what do you do? You’re like, “I don’t feel right. I’m going to the doctor. I’m going to get a prescription. I don’t want to feel this way. Load me up with some chemical so I don’t have to deal with what I’m dealing with.”
What are you asking for? If you’re asking to help people out of their pain, but you’re not willing to go through the pain so you learn how to deal with it. You want to alter it by jumping on a prescription right away because that’s what will happen. If you go to the doctor and you say, “I don’t like the way I feel.” They’re going to prescribe something to you so you don’t have to deal with it. How are you going to get to the truth if you’re not willing to do that? How are you going to help somebody else if you’re not saying, “Whatever’s happening to me, I can’t control the event, but I went through the event for a reason?” Your new story can be, “I’m supposed to go through this, because by me learning how to not only deal with it but change what things mean to me, that’s the lesson.”
There are always challenges in life, and it's how we deal with them that gets us through it. Share on X“Maybe I’m supposed to go through this for a period of my life so I can feel some pain and know how to help somebody else that is in desperate pain to get through that.” What if that was the story instead of, “I don’t like the way I feel. Somebody give me something. I’m going to go out there and I’m going to put something in my body so it chemically alters the way I feel, so I think different thoughts.” Don’t expect a different result permanently for not willing to go through the pain. You’ve got to do what it takes. If you want your life to be easier and you want to have some super growth, to be a super achiever, then you’ve got to go through certain things and pains in life so you get it. The person that needs you, that truly is suicidal. You’re the angel that can help them through that.
Did you ever think of that? Did you ever feel that for a second? What if you are that person, but you don’t want to deal with the pain, so what do you do? “Doctor, I don’t want the way I feel. Get me out of this.” “Therapist, prescribe something for me. Let me take this drug so I don’t have to deal with it.” Why are you ever going to grow from that? I was on the phone with somebody and it inspires me to do these things. Maybe I was on the phone to do this show and that’s the real reason that I got the phone call. Think of it like this, you want to be a healthy fit person. You want to condition your body to feel and look a certain way. Are you going to go to the gym, get a trainer, work all day, walk out of there and go, “How come my body isn’t perfect?”
That’s what you’re expecting to do with your mind. You’re not willing to do the work to condition your mind to set you up for success and to feel a certain way and to be an example. How can your story be, “I dealt with this pain?” Here’s my story, “I didn’t like the way it felt. Go down there and get a prescription. You’ll feel good.” What if we stopped doing that and we find different ways? Maybe the pain is there because we need to learn something. If you want to condition your mind, think of it like this, “In one year, I want to be a bodybuilder. I want to have a healthy body.”
What do you need to do? You’ve got to go to the gym and you have to discipline yourself. You’re creating a discipline for yourself to condition your body to look and feel a certain way. That means you have to do certain exercises. That means you have to eat certain foods to assist your body. That means that you’re not going to walk out of there and go, “I don’t feel any different.” If you look in the mirror and you go in the gym for a whole day, 2 or 3 days, or a whole week, you walk out of there, you look in the mirror and you go, “I don’t see any difference,” and you give up. You will never condition your body to get the results that you want in a year. The same thing works with your mind.
Here’s the good news, take a picture of your body. Go and consistently condition your body physically. Condition your body with the food you eat, the things you put in a drink, and then take a picture now and the next week. You won’t notice a difference, but there will be a tipping point. If you see the picture now and then in six months from now, you’ll notice a major difference. Take the same mental picture of working on your mind and stress. It doesn’t happen overnight, but if you give up and all you’re going to do is say, “I want to take a pill. I want to get rid of this pain.” You are not going to learn how to grow and you’re not going to be able to help somebody else or serve anybody else out there.
Your purpose in life is trying to realize the one thing and not to see how much you can get out of this life and how successful you can be. Your success and fulfillment are based on how you can contribute back and help other people. You are an example to everybody out there. It is your job, your moral obligation to learn from the pain that you’re in so you get the lesson. When things happen to you, you have a choice to make, “This happened to me because of whatever reason I need to go through.” If you don’t find the empowering meaning behind each and every event when you think it’s negative, how are you going to learn to grow? I talked to this lady and she goes, “I’ve been praying.” I’m not against prayer at all. I support everybody, every faith, and every belief out there.
If you’re praying to help people out there and your prayers are being answered because you’re going through some pain, then they’ll go, “God gave up on me. I’m going through some pain.” That’s the prayer. This is what you asked for. Now, you’re getting it and you don’t want it. Do you want the result without the growth? If that was the case, then we’d all have perfect bodies, wouldn’t we? We’d all be happy and there would be no growth. We wouldn’t learn any lessons because we didn’t go through some things that we need to go through. Some of the greatest, more successful achievers out there went through the hardest pains in the world. You may be one of those people that need to go through it. You may not want to go through it, but if you need to go through it, it’s there for a reason.
Welcome that. Don’t go running and every time you get a little pain, you run to the doctor. What can you do differently? What thoughts can you think? How can you move and condition your body when you don’t like the thoughts or the feelings going through your body? What are you putting in your body? Not just chemically from pharmaceutical, but the foods you’re eating. Are you giving your body the necessary foods that are giving you the health reasons that your body will thrive? What are you doing? Ask yourself that. I want you to write down, what are you feeding your body every day physically? What are you drinking every day to feed your body? What thoughts are you saying? If you want to stop being depressed, then condition your mind and body so you cleanse it out.
Make The Real Change
I will not work with somebody if they are on any kind of chemically altered pills. Here’s the reason why. You’re not going to get a permanent result if you’re constantly altering and giving a pattern interrupt to your body with physical to change the way you feel, which is mental. When you put things in your body, yes, it’s going to affect you the way your thoughts are and the actions you take. I’m not against people taking certain medications that are necessary for your body. I’m not bashing you. I’m only saying let’s stop running all the time to the doctors on every little thing.
What if you learn how to condition your mind and body in a way that’s going to give you the results that you want and the pain is there because that’s the true gift? If you’re not willing to at least look at other options, then how do you expect to get a brand-new result? How do you expect to pay it forward? You’ve got to ask yourself that. I know I’m going to get a bunch of hate mail on this like, “You don’t know what I’ve gone through.” Let me tell you something. My cousin was on many pills that they called it suicide pills. They had one pill for this and one pill for that and there is this pill that counteracts this pill. What the heck are you doing?
Your success and fulfillment are based on how you can contribute back and help other people. Share on XWhen they call it suicide pills, isn’t that a clue? What if she cleaned herself out? Could she have gotten a different result? I bet you, she could have. If you don’t give your body a chance, how are you going to give your mind a break? I wonder if you knew the story could be different. If you have a bad thought and if you can take only 30 and think and feel about what you’re grateful for, could you do that? Could you think of something that you are at a happy moment, a happy time in your past? If you can’t do 30 seconds because it’s too long or you’re not willing to. If you want to be a victim, then you’re never going to find a solution because you’re getting certain needs met.
You’re getting all this attention with being a victim. I’m not talking to you. I’m talking to somebody who wants real change. If you’re always looking to be a victim, then you’re not there to serve anybody else. You’re only there because you want significance to get people to pay attention to you. If you think you’re going to grow from that, you are sadly mistaken. If you want real growth, challenge yourself, “I wonder what I am grateful and thankful for.” Think about that for 30 seconds. If you could do it for 30 seconds, you can do it for 45 seconds or 1 minute. What you do is you’re conditioning your mind. It’s like going to the gym. If you work out a certain muscle long enough, it conditions it to change the appearance of it physically and you change the way you feel.
When you change the way you feel, you change your thoughts. You’re conditioning your mind to accept the fact that you’re in control of your mind. If you give up control and you let something else, some altering medication that should not be in there, not the ones that are supposed to be there, please understand that my beliefs on medication may be a little different than others. If you can condition yourself, I wonder if you can get a permanent result and make some changes. My guess is you sure can. If you don’t give yourself a chance and all you’re going to do is poison your body, hoping that those negative thoughts die and go away, you’re the one taking the poison and you’re not giving your brain a chance to grow.
I remember I went to my heart doctor. I got a 70% blockage in a couple of different arteries, “You need to go to the hospital right now because you have a blockage. We need to put a stent in there.” I said, “It’s the first opinion.” It was November. He goes, “If you go to Colorado, the chances are you’re going to have a heart attack and die.” That’s what the doctor told me. I said, “Okay, doc.” He goes, “Here are the prescriptions you’re going to take now. You can take these three prescriptions. If you start getting sick, nauseous and depressed, stop taking the medicine right away.”
I’m thinking, “You want to practice? You want me to take something that’s going to absolutely affect my body in a negative way?” He goes, “We’ve got to get ready for this stent. You need to go in right away.” I got three other opinions. All three heart doctor specialists told me, “Do not take that medication. If you take that medication, it will absolutely make you sick and do worse for you. I went to one doctor. I flew all the way to San Francisco. This guy specializes in helping people with heart conditions. It’s all he does. He teaches other doctors. He said, “The stuff you’re on right now and if you’d gone through what he told you through, you’d be twice as likely to have a heart attack than not.”
I said, “Why did that doctor tell me that?” He goes, “It’s $55,000 for him to do a stent right away and there’s no money in the other thing.” I thought, “Thank God.” I’m still alive. It’s been many years, dear doctor. I haven’t died yet. I didn’t take any of your medicine. Here’s what’s interesting. As I walked in to register to get these EKGs and all that, the nurse said, “Did you take your medicine?” I said, “No, I didn’t take the medicine. In fact, I threw them away. I didn’t even prescribe.” She’s smiling and goes, “I wouldn’t take it either.” It’s her own secretary. How come the doctor isn’t taking it? “He doesn’t want to take it, but he’ll prescribe it to somebody else.”
I’m not against doctors. I love doctors. I think their intentions and nurses out there are heroes. I am against somebody that wants to feed you medicine in your body with the risk of that, “If you die, it was a practice. I have a license to practice on you and I was practicing but the stuff didn’t work out. I’m sorry.” I get so agitated at that. We’ve been to a lot of countries and you go through some of those other countries where they don’t believe in modern medication. They feed your body and your mind with healthy herbs, fruits, and vegetables.
I’m not one of these wacky-cracky health nuts out there, but I do believe in feeding your body right. They live the longest, healthiest and they even laugh at you, “People in America, they get a little problem. They run to get a preventive prescription right away,” “We have a flu shot every year. We don’t even know what it is yet. We’re going to stop something before it happens.” I don’t understand that either, why are you going to get a flu shot if you don’t have the flu?
I don’t want to be going down that road because I’ll be getting some hate mails, but it’s okay. If you want to send me that, I respect your opinion and values. My parents take all these medications and neither one who could hardly walk at all. I said, “Why don’t you get off that crap?” They said, “The doctors prescribed it.” I go, “How does that make you feel?” They said, “I can hardly walk. I can’t get out.” I said, “You can’t walk, take it to bed and you’re okay with that?” Our parents told us, their children. They love me and I love them. I wish them the best, but they’re not in the best of health and they could be. My great grandmother lived to 98 years old. She didn’t take a lot of medication, but she did eat right. She even smoked until she was 96.
Cigarettes were a little different back then. They didn’t have all the different chemicals in them that we are having nowadays. I’m not promoting smoking. Isn’t it interesting that some of our grandparents and great grandparents lived to be very old? What did they put in their body? She didn’t take any medication, nothing, but she moved around a lot and she was a fun lady. I loved hanging out with her. She lived a full life. Do you want to live a full life? Feed your mind and body the things that it needs. Go find something that your body needs, craves, don’t give it the crap and expect it to get better when you’re not doing what it’s required to do.
There are reasons why there are all these beautiful plants and herbs and things out there. Go out there and feed some of those. Try that for a year. I’m not a vegan or vegetarian. I am a secondary vegan. I only eat animals that eat plants. If you want me to work with you and you want to clear up things. You want another psychologist or anybody out there, I can assure you, you don’t need to put all those things in your body. There is not a super achiever out there that I know that’s filling their body full of poisons right now.
You don’t like the thoughts you’re having? Don’t give yourself another pill to alter that. Don’t go out there and drink more alcohol, take it to the drugs. Forget doing that. Give yourself a chance and opportunity. I want you to continue to read my shows. Let me know your feedback on this. There is no wrong feedback, there is the only opinion and that is my opinion.
