People tend to be very results-oriented that they skip on the steps they have to take to get there. In this same light, we tend to buy what we want in hopes that it has what we need. All of this is just an emotional game, one that unknowingly puts us in an emotional, financial jail. In this discussion, host, Mark Yuzuik, shares with us his observation of people attending programs and events. What he found is this disturbing behavior where people emotionally buy what they want instead of what they logically need. Join Mark in this episode as he goes deep into this jail that we dig ourselves into and teaches you how to get yourself out of it and actually get the results you need.

Get Yourself Out Of The Emotional, Financial Jail
Buying What You Want Hoping To Get What You Need
I wanted to say thank you for reading. Also, subscribe to be notified about my episodes as well as go to GetYourMindSetWithMark.com and get my free book. I want to talk about something a little disturbing to me. I even titled the name of this episode, Do This or You’ll Be in Jail. What I mean by that is you’re going to put yourself in jail of life, an emotional jail where you’re going to feel frustrated, unsuccessful, and you’re going to be irritated on why you’re not getting results that you want. I got them speaking at an event at LAX. There were multiple speakers there. As I’m learning, listening, and watching the other speakers on all different topics speak, I’m watching the audience. The opportunities they have is to hear a speaker they like. They want to get into a program, learn more about it, invest their time, their money, and get some knowledge to get to the next level. As I’m watching each speaker with different titles and I still am so flabbergasted at this. What amazes me is I’ve learned one thing about people and their behaviors.
People buy what they want instead of what they need with the anticipation and the hope that if they buy what they want, that will give them what they need so they can feel the way they want to feel. I want you to think about that for a second. When you’re investing in yourself, in your education, in you moving forward in life to be successful, you come across a program, a mentor, a coach, somebody who is massively successful in business, I’m not talking about a few million. I’m talking about massive millions approaching like the billion-dollar status. You pass on their program because they’re going to teach you how to take your business to the next level. They tell you that it’s not going to happen overnight. You can’t do it in working four hours a week. You have to be dedicated. When you’re dedicated and you do these certain things, you will produce massive wealth. You sit there. You love what the speaker has to say and you take it in. You go, “That was awesome. That was fantastic. He is so right. She is so right.”
You hear another speaker get up there. They tell you all the people they hang around, the celebrities, “When you come to my event, you’re going to be around celebrities. People are going to be all around. You’ll be able to take pictures. Ask them any questions you want. Think about this. We’re going to be partying with the best people out in the country. People that everybody knows.” They stand up and they flock to the back to get his program or get her program, whoever the speaker is. I’m thinking to myself, what made that speaker sell more programs? It wasn’t price. It was about the same price. The one that would teach you how you’re going to become massively wealthy, protect yourself with assets, and get what you wanted. You don’t go to an event. You don’t go to college. You don’t go to the school of hard knocks, whatever you want to call it, to advance your life without the intention of saying, “I’m going to do whatever it takes to get there.” You know what you want.
We buy what we emotionally want instead of what we logically need. Share on XBelieve it or not, sometimes you even know you’ve got to put a little work into it. When you find a strategy, a proven program that has worked hundreds and hundreds of times, and you pass it up because you’d want to be in that celebrity status. “I hang around this person. What are people going to think? I’ll get a picture of this person. I’ll be hanging out with these people.” Here’s the reason why. I discover this and I remember talking to the event promoter. I said, “I’m watching. I’m studying this behavior. As I watch and study this behavior, it’s disturbing. They’re spending a lot of money to be here for one reason, to get a result.” When you invest, ask yourself, “I’m investing in a program. What are you investing in it for?” For one reason, to get that result. That’s the bottom line. You’re investing in yourself and other people’s experiences, knowledge, and strategies so you can become more successful in some area or another.
Out Of The Emotional Financial Jail
Here’s what people do. It’s an emotional game. You don’t buy what you need. You buy what you want, hoping that you’re going to get what you want. You think you’ve got what you needed. You don’t buy what you need. If you bought what you needed and you applied yourself, you would get what you want. You can hang out with all these people and take legitimate pictures. It’s not, “I’ve got a picture because I spent thousands of dollars and I got to hang out with this person at the party.” You get to tell your story. How much money? How further along are you going to get by doing that? You need to ask and be real with yourself. If you don’t do what I’m telling you to do and get the right information and knowledge, then you will be in an emotional financial jail. I want you to stop and think about this because I coach people. I remember sitting down. There’s this particular young lady. I said, “I want to ask you a question straight up.” She goes, “Okay.” I said, “I’m coaching you. You spend a lot of money for me to coach you right now. You are the first one to be bold enough to take action. I granted you this opportunity. We could spend some time together so I can find out what’s holding you back.”
What are the programs in your subconscious mind that are saying, “I’m feeling like I’m stuck. I feel like I’m procrastinating. I want to get to the next level. I’ve invested in myself?” You did. You invested your time, money, energy. You’re motivated. You’re inspired. You’re excited. You’ve got all these things working for you. I said, “Did you buy so-and-so’s program?” I’m talking about the gentleman that’s made hundreds of millions of dollars. She said, “No, it was a good program though. I don’t think I’m quite ready for that.” I said, “Did you buy so-and-so’s program?” “Yes.” I said, “Why’d you do that?” “I don’t know.” I said, “Here’s why, because when they’re up there talking and they’re sharing pictures, photos, videos of a party, celebrities and all that, you are compelled as a human being, a natural need that we have to feel accepted, to feel loved, to feel excited, we’ve made it. We’re with somebody that matters. You can look at me differently. I’m here. I’ve always wanted to be here and I’m here now.”
What do you do? You did it based on feeling significant, wanting attention, not consciously knowing about it. You were drawn emotionally. We buy what we emotionally want instead of what we logically need. What if he did it the other way? What if you said, “This is not an emotional game for me,” because the emotion of becoming successful is always going to be there. You want to be successful, but if you don’t play your cards right, it’s like playing cards and poker. If you’re folding before you get the pot, you’ll never win. You’ve got to know which cards to play first. I’m here telling you the hardcore truth because I went through this. I bought what I wanted and didn’t get what I needed. I decided you go into survival mode. You decide, “What do I need to buy? What do I need to invest in order for me to get what I want?” That’s the turning point. You’ll have to do things that you think, “I don’t want to do these things.” You’re focused on what you have to do instead of the result that you want. If you stop and focus on what you want, and you say, “What do I need to do to get this result so I get what I want?”
That is to feel healthy, feel successful, to have energy, to create cashflow, whatever that need is that you want, you focus on what the result is and not, “What if I’m hanging out with this celebrity?” Let me tell you something. You know my background. I’ve been an entertainer since 1991. I’ve never thrown names around. I have never taken pictures and flashed them on the screen at any of my presentations. Why don’t I do that? There’s no reason to. How are my relationships and the people I’ve worked with, all the celebrities, all the artists out there going to help you get what you need? What is that going to do? If I show you a picture of him hanging out with Tim McGraw, Leann Rimes, Pat Benatar, all these people out there, how is that going to help you? What if you had all the pictures in the world and you’re hanging out with all these celebrities, how much money is that going to make you? What’s the strategy? You’re going to feel good for a little while. It doesn’t have any weight because there’s no strategic method for you to be successful.
The only thing it serves is your need for significance to get attention. You’ve got the opportunity. You have certain programs about money on your subconscious mind, what it means to you. When somebody flashes all this stuff, it’s like, “If I had the money, I’d have this.” Our brain says, “Let’s hang out with this lifestyle and the money will be here.” It won’t because we’re tricked by the illusion of the feeling that it’s going away. It’s going to make us feel if we only had it. The truth is how is that going to help you? I’m not saying that it’s right or wrong. Everybody’s individual, your differences. You’ve got to know where you are. I’m not saying not having a picture of a celebrity doesn’t make it for who you are. If you’re in the branding business, take as many pictures as you want. That’s what it is. When you’re in the business of business and you want to get ahead, it’s okay to take a picture when it comes about.
Invest For Yourself To Get To The Next Level
Don’t focus on that. Get into a program that’s going to teach you some strategies on how you’re going to take your life to the next level financially. You’ve got to do what you need to do. You need to buy what you need to buy. You need to invest in who you need to invest in. When you get a coach, get a coach that’s going to keep you accountable. That’s one thing. Not a lot of people will coach me all the time. Do you know why? I’m going to make sure that I keep you accountable to get the results that you want. Most importantly, make sure you stay on track to do what you need to do to get those results. I’m not here to motivate you. You’re already motivated. I’d love to inspire you to want to take your life to the next level. It’s not temporary, I’m talking permanently. I want to inspire you. In order to inspire you, you have to do certain things. It’s so much easier. I remember the last show I did. I hypnotized this young lady and I made her a rock star.
The opportunity is so plentiful right now in this world. All we have to do is realize they are there. Share on XI didn’t even know this. It’s funny how things fall into your life without it even knowing like, “Why did I even pick that person? Why did they say this?” I find out the story afterward. She wanted to be a motivational speaker. She wanted to get up on stage. She had this fear all the time. I remember going over there. After I woke up, I go, “How did that feel?” She goes, “Wow.” I said, “Did you have any fears?” She says, “No.” I said, “Did you have the confidence?” She said, “Yes.” I said, “What did it feel like?” She goes, “I felt empowered.” I said, “That same feeling wasn’t easier than you thought once you did it.” She goes, “Yes, it was.” I said, “From this moment on, you realize how powerful you are? The illusion that held you back from being a speaker was the illusion of that. You didn’t have the confidence, anything to share. You had something to prove and all that.” How easy that is. What I love about what I do is I can get to your subconscious mind and set up your mind to be successful, to do the things that you need to do to get the things that you want in life.
I believe that’s when you’re free. That’s freedom. That’s a success. That’s when you come up with growth. I watched some of these motivational videos, Tony Robbins, Gary Vee, Jim Britt, Michael Nitti, Bob Proctor. I watch a lot of this stuff. I watched some of these short clips because they intrigued me. As I’m watching some of these, even Gary Vee, some of you may like and may not like him. The bottom line is he does offer some strategies. He says, “If you want to be and make a quick dollar, I hate telling people I make a quick dollar, but there’s an opportunity every single day out there.” Can you go to a TJ Maxx, a Ross or a Marshalls and buy something at a discount, put it on eBay and make money with it? The answer is yes. Do a little bit of homework. If you want to make a quick $5,000, go and do that. Do you know what people don’t do? They get lazy. They go, “I don’t know.” They make excuses on why they can’t do it. They complain about where they are.
Take your life to the next level because if you truly want to live a lifestyle and not live in a life and then have this regret at the end, do some of the things that you need to do now. Invest in some of the things you need to invest in for yourself to make sure that you get to the next level. I was driving home from doing a show and I see these three guys on the side of the road with a sign. They’re not unhealthy guys. They’re laughing, joking, waving to everybody. Their sign says, “Need food and weed, please donate.” They think this is great. It’s almost like they feel good about doing that. What has this society come to? Are we proud of begging? Are we too good to get up like people should go to work and give us things? We sit on the side of the road and say, “I want to smoke some weed.” Why not step it up in life? Trade your sign in and go to Marshalls and take $50 and turn it into $75 or $100. Reinvest that thing. Do some of these small strategies.
There’s no reason for anybody in life right now, not to at least try to get ahead and take some of these strategies. The more desperate you are, the better chance you got both. You’re complacent. You’re okay. You want to live on significance. Do you know what’s going to happen? You’re going to settle. You’re going to justify and tell yourself a story. You know why people bought that program, that they get to hang out with celebrities because they get to tell a story to all their friends, “Check out who I’m hanging out with.” They get attention. They get variety. They feel all these great needs coming about. “I’m making it now. I’m going for it.” How much does that monetize? It has monetized a little bit. Look at your credit card bill. Instead of investing in yourself and getting what you need, you buy what you want. Here’s what I’m going to invite you to do because I want to keep this. I want to keep you on track. I want you to sit down and say, “What are the things that I bought because I wanted them thinking I was going to get what I needed?” Versus now if my mindset shifts, I have a brand-new mindset. I’m going to invest in something that I need so I can get what I want.
You reinvest it and you build it up. You’ll get what you want a lot quicker than you ever thought. You’ll be so fulfilled because you made it. You came from a place of growth. You didn’t sit around. You used your brain to develop and create patterns that are going to say, “I can be successful. All these beliefs add that I couldn’t make it are now gone.” You’re going to be squished. All the fear you had is gone. All the illusion of procrastination is going to be gone because you feel good about yourself. You did what you needed to do. You got what you wanted. You do that and you’ll never be in jail. I’m talking about the jail of feeling like you’ll never be successful. It’s the emotional story that you’re telling yourself. You know you don’t feel good about yourself. That thing is called regret. There’s no reason for you to ever have regret. You’ve got to say, “What do I need to do differently?” I want you to stop. I want you to write down, “What are you going to do differently? What are you going to invest in that you need to invest in to produce a result, not to party, but to be prosperous?”

You get to focus on what you get to do because the result is right there.
It’s all about the result. You deserve it. I know what’s out there for you. The opportunity is so plentiful right now in this world. All we have to do is realize.
