New Year’s Resolutions To New Year’s Commitments: Attracting The Life You Want
I got back from a mastermind, where we flew over to NASA. There were seven of us and we all came together. People from all over the world and we put together our talents. Who is good at what? How can we get to the next level? How can we serve as many people as we can? How can we create the relationships we want to create to become successful not just in our business but in our life, fulfillment, making a difference in your life as well as our life so we can all grow? It’s after the first of the year and everybody seems to make these New Year’s resolutions. Let’s forget about New Year’s resolutions. Let’s talk about New Year commitments, things we’re not going to hope we do but things we’re going to do. How many times in the past, and I’m guilty too, have you made a New Year’s resolution or any resolution, whether it’s your birthday or whatever and you fell short on it? You didn’t follow through or something came up. You got busy, tied out, made an excuse, blame something, or did something where you did not follow through. Has that ever happened to you? I know it has for me.
We have to get rid of the toxic people in our lives to make room for the relationships that are waiting to come. Share on XWhy is that? We’re not clear on what we want and our intentions. If we’re not clear on our intentions, what happens is we don’t pay attention to the things we want to attract into our life. The beautiful thing is this world is waiting to give you whatever you want. Open your arms, decide what you want, and be ready for it. Don’t let yourself talk to yourself out of it. When you have a goal and you get nervous or you get this fear, what if you drove through it? What if you plowed through it and said, “I’m not going to stop?” The things you need to do that you don’t want to do because you make excuses is what you have to do in order to get the result that you want. I’ll give you an example. When I’m in the Bahamas, I flew over for one day, sat on the beach, I brought my swimming trunks but I didn’t even get a chance to get out of them. I’m in a suit jacket, I’m sitting on the dock, and we’re masterminding.
The whole purpose was to produce a result to grow. It’s our New Year’s commitment to each other and we keep each other accountable. I’ve got to meet with the owner of a company that promotes, puts people on stages, gets you out there, and gets you to the next level. I have an opportunity to meet with him sometime. He can show up or he can’t in Arizona so I’ll meet up with him there. I thought, “Wait a second.” Your gut says, “Why are you waiting? How serious and committed are you to making a difference and getting the things that you decided you wanted to do this 2020?” Is it a resolution or commitment? Is it something you want to do or you’re going to get? Is it something you think about you should have or you to go after and make sure you get it? That’s the difference. What I did was I decided, “The owner is in New York, I’m in Florida now. I’m not going to wait. I’m going to book my flight, commit, and go.” I called him up and I say, “What can I do? I want to come to meet you.”
Look at it from his point of view. If I’m flying to meet with him, is that a commitment that says, “I’m going to do whatever I have to do to show up and produce the best result I can for you as an agent and make you look good.” I believe in myself but not everybody else believes in you until you prove it. How do you prove it? You step up. You don’t make promises you can’t deliver. You over-deliver the things you commit to and you give so much value that there’s no way that they ever want to look anywhere else. Everyone says, “How do you have such a beautiful wife?” I said, “I treat her so good that she will never look for anything else because when you give her everything that she wants, needs in life, spoil, honor, love and worship everything about her, why would she turn that down or look somewhere else?”
If she’s confident, then she’s going to stay exactly where she wants to be and that’s with love. I worship my wife. I love her and she does the same for me. That’s the whole thing. If you’re not willing to look at your business and treat your business that way, here’s what’s interesting. Some of you treat your business better than treat your spouse. You got to have a balance. Whatever one that you’re lacking, whatever you need to pay attention to and focus on, then do that. If your business is going great and you’re committed, then involve and invite the family into at least your vision with your spouse if you haven’t done that yet. The one thing I got is they’re creating events that are family-oriented. What do you mean by family-oriented?
That means you go, mastermind, dream but you share your vision with your children as well as your spouse. Why? When you can share your vision and you have a purpose, everybody gets excited. Children will grow up with values, morals, want to have a drive, and they’ll get the experiences that they would never get by not involving them. I’m like, “What a beautiful concept. What a great vision.” Out of this trip, you’ve got to step-up, do things, and commit within less than twelve hours. We’ve got something going on in Brazil, all over the US, Europe, and Canada. This is all about deciding what we want and not making a resolution, but making a commitment. Interesting how your mind works. What’s interesting is it’s always been there for us, we never stepped up and walked through the door.
What if you decide this year that you’re going to take those steps instead of talking yourself out? When you feel like not doing something, that’s when you need to do it. When you feel like not making a phone call, that’s when you most need to make the phone call. When you feel like not showing up, that’s when you need to show up. What if you did that, you broke that pattern that held you back, created the resolutions that you have every year, and your resolutions become a reality? Your reality gets you the results that you want. Where would your life be? Don’t even think about a year. Think of three months. Where are you going to be in 90 days? Who are you going to surround yourself with? Your intention and what you pay attention to is what you’re going to attract into your life.
I heard somebody talk about we have to get rid of the toxic people in our life to make room for the relationships that are waiting to come into our life. I thought, “What a brilliant concept that is.” We’re hanging on to relationships even we’re relating to our self with our mental mind setbacks. We’ve got to get rid of those relationships and that self-talk so we can make room for those relationships and that self-talk to come into our life. It’s already out there for us. Why is that some people that are successful consistently seem to be the lucky ones? I don’t believe there’s luck. I believe that you create situations and you open your eyes. Everybody has luck. It’s that, are you aware of it? Do you know why they put blinders on horses when they run around the track?
They don’t get distracted and don’t see anything else. They have one purpose and one drive. What if you had blinders on and you had one purpose and one drive? That was to follow through on the commitments for yourself, family, loved ones, and to make a difference in somebody else’s life. Your sole purpose was to serve. How can you give so much value? We do an event. We’re starting to do it every year now in Moab, Utah. It’s an extreme event. It’s skydive, river rafting, jet boating, ziplining, team building, going up to four-wheeling and look at the sunset and then we mastermind at night. I charge little for this. It’s one little fee, all paid for. Everybody says you should charge more, and there’s not a lot of profit in it.
It was like, “Why would you do it without profit?” Do you know the handful of people that said, “You’re not doing it for profit is the best thing you ever did?” All the people I’m surrounding myself with. I said, “It’s not about the profit. It’s about building the relationship and making a difference in somebody’s life.” When you give that much value, then when you have another event, you continue to deliver value upon value. People get to grow and consistently make a difference in their life. How do you build a raving fan? How do you do that? Did you consistently contribute and give value? You want somebody looking somewhere else, don’t give value. You want somebody to decide that, “I want to shop around.” You’re not giving them enough value or you’re overcharging them, or both.
One thing success buys is time. Share on XYou’re worth is much money as the value you provide for the people that you’re doing business with. Even if it’s not business in the relationship, your passion is a direct result of the value that you give to your spouse. If you’re in a toxic relationship, that’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about people that have a love for themselves, intimacy, into-me-I see. What do you see for yourself? Are you in a relationship, business or personal, with yourself that it’s about what’s in it for you or you’re in this relationship about what can I give without expectation? That’s what you got to ask yourself. What is it that you can decide now? Not New Year’s resolution, but a decision that you’re going to do. I want you to write it down. We write down a New Year’s resolutions but it’s very vague.
I want to lose weight. I want to be rich. I want to go on this vacation. What if you were specific and clear? In addition to that, when you write it down, make sure you’re in this high, energetic, fun, exciting state. After you write it down, who do you have to become? Who do you have to surround yourself with? What actions do you need to take to make that happen? If it’s a thought, we have thousands and thousands of thoughts going through our mind every minute. If we don’t write it down, then our thought is diluted by the illusion of we’ve thought we wanted this but when we’re clear on it, our mind gets focused. When it’s focused, it finds the answers we’re looking for. They’re already there.
What are you going to do? What is something that you are absolutely going to do this 2020 to make your life better for yourself, family, loved ones, and for people you don’t even know? What is it? Why do you want that? How is it going to make you feel by doing that? Everything we do is based on a feeling. When you feel like not doing something, that’s exactly when you need to step up, that’s when you go, “I’m not going to listen to my feelings because I know my desires, drive, and purpose outweighs anything that I want to procrastinate on.” The illusion is going to take all the work and you don’t focus on the results and the fun. I wonder if we focused on something that we were wanting to accomplish, and we felt the way we’re going to feel we accomplish it. Wonder what that’s like.
If that’s your focus, your drive becomes easier. Your purpose becomes clear, your decisions are made a lot faster, and you do the things that you get to do to produce the result that you want. We talk about seminars and the common thing comes up in the events. I do a lot of events and shows. Here’s what’s interesting. I’ve learned these. People buy or they focus, whatever terminology you want to use, what they think they want in life instead of what they need. If they bought what they think they wanted in life instead of what they needed, they continue to want the same things only they get frustrated, you give up, and then you still chase that same train that, “What do I want? What if you did this? What if you invested in yourself?”
When I say invested, it does not need to be monetary. Invested in doing what you needed to do and then you got what you wanted to get, so you feel the way you want to feel, but people don’t do that because we chased what we want. We chased the shining star. What if you did that? Let’s take this year and decide, “I’m going to do, what I need to do so I can get what I want to get so I could feel the way I want to feel.” That is the secret to this thing. I’ve been to events where people sell detailed business plans that will get to the next level. People that are worth $100 million. There are people that sell shiny objects, run around with the stars, and get your picture taken.
Do you know what sells more? You already know the answer to this. If you had an opportunity to spend three days with one of the best business coaches out there. It’s not real exciting but it is focused. You learn how to create a business that will be a multi-success for you. You had an opportunity to spend three days and get all these pictures, celebrities, live in a high lifestyle, fast, private jets, and all that. Ask yourself this and be honest, which one would you want to do versus which one would you do? My guess is this. As most people out there, they do what they think they want, they buy shiny objects that make them feel significant, and have all this excitement. “You know that boy, if I hung out with this person, then people will accept me.”
You meet so many needs by that versus spending the time investing in yourself to get the strategies, and the formulas to get everything you ever wanted so you could live that lifestyle, not for three days but for a lifetime. Are you willing to do that? Be honest with yourself. Don’t go, “I would do that.” You all say that but what would you do? Before you answer that, think about it. You’re going to be drawn to do what feels the best, the variety, the excitement, the party, the significance but you got to be disciplined enough to take the actions so you get the results that you want and that you need so you can do the lifestyle that you deserve to have. What’s your commitment this year? Not a resolution. I want you to seriously write down what you wanted in the past, what you haven’t followed through on, and why it is going to be different this year.
What actions are you going to take to be different? When you could do that, your life will be totally different. If you can invest in yourself and you decide that’s what you’re going to do, you know something? Life will never be the same again, nor will it be for the people you care about or the charities you get to contribute to. The time that you’ll get to spend with yourself because one thing success buys is time. That’s the most valuable thing. That’s the one thing that’s equal in this world is the time. Write down, what are these? What are you going to do? Who do you have to surround yourself with? Why do you want it? How are you going to feel by following through? Write down how you’re going to feel by not following through? If you put a little pain in there, then guess what happens? You focus on by not following through. You get pain and following through. You’re going to get pleasure. My guess is you’re going to follow through.
Don’t wait because the one thing you have is time. When you know you want something and your gut tries to talk you out of it, that’s the time to take action. This is all about action. We’ll get down here, you get your paper out, you don’t wait to do this, and you do it immediately. Remember this, those that take action, those that are focused get results, and from that point, you get to live the life and the lifestyle that you want. Thanks for listening.
