Effects Of Doing The Same Thing Over And Over Again
I remember the first couple of times when we were talking about what are we focused on in life and what are we grateful for. When we’re grateful, we start realizing the things that we have in our assets in our life. What’s the energy that we come from to make sure that we wake up in the morning, we are full of energy and we attract the things into our life that we want to attract into our life? What’s another step? How else can we program our subconscious mind to start getting different results to create rituals and patterns so we can live a fulfilled life? The one thing you got to ask yourself is if you’re consistently doing the same thing over and over again, if you’re not doing anything different, then how do you expect to grow? What is going to be new, exciting and energetic in your life? The answer is nothing because you have this ritual that your brain keeps on going down the same path.
If you’re going to work, then take the same road every time. Before you know it, you don’t even realize the things that are on the side. It’s invisible, the path that you’re going down. You’re not even aware of all the things that you’re passing by in life and things that are passing by you because you’re doing the same thing over and over again. How do you do things differently? How do you wake up? How do you live a fulfilled life with some energy and some variety in your life? Because that’s the key to this thing. If you’re not doing something different, then how you going to get a different result? You’ve heard that many times before. Different people say the same thing. You want to make sure that you’re on the right track, that you’re doing it the way you want to do it. Think about people that don’t make changes in life. Can you name a few big companies that did the same thing? They didn’t see the vision, won’t listen to the people and didn’t do anything different. What happened in some of those companies? Are they still around? There’s a lot of them.
The Importance Of Having Variety In Life
I remember when I was a kid, Woolworth’s five-and-dime store, I don’t even know if there’s one in existence. I remember listening to a speaker one time and saying, “Every single business in this world will have ups and downs. Everyone will go out of business if they don’t make changes somewhere along the line.” It doesn’t matter how strong they are because if they don’t make changes, times will change and there’ll be stuck in the past. They won’t realize what the future has for the people that are looking for a different product, a different service in life. If you don’t give that to them, if you don’t provide something new and different then your customers, your clients and your raving fans will go somewhere else simply by mere variety. Because in life, if we don’t have variety and something different, then we’re going to get bored and we’ll want to go somewhere else. That’s just the way it is. That’s how we’re hardwired in our brains. We have to have that variety. If we don’t, then where are we going to go? We’re going to keep doing the same thing over and over again and it’s going to get so bored and predictable. I remember this one time I’m telling a story about this guy, he dies. As he dies, he goes into the next life. He liked women, gambling and smoking cigars. On the first day in his next life, he was in this casino and every time he played blackjack, he hit 21. He played craps. He’d roll his numbers. He had all the women around him. He wanted to be around as many women as he wanted. He had some of the finest cigars and some of the best liquor and drinks you could ever imagine.
Moving onto his new life, he was all excited. He goes, “This is exactly what I knew it was going to be like. It felt so perfect.” The next day he gets up and he goes down to the casino and sure enough, he’s winning again. He doesn’t have a losing hand in blackjack. He rolls and wins on craps. He’s playing that roulette. He’s getting all his numbers there and they’d bring him over a fine cigar and some of the most beautiful women in the world. He’d show up in his beautiful outfit with a great cigar and a topnotch drink of his choice. It’s the second day and things are doing great. The next day he goes down there and it’s the same thing. He’s winning again and he’s got this drink in his hand, the finest liquor and best cigars and the most beautiful women surrounded himself with. At the end of the day, he goes back to bed.
About two weeks later, he sits down at a blackjack table and the dealer deals up, and he goes, “21.” He goes, “Of course, it’s 21. What do you expect?” He brings over a drink and he’s like, “Of course, it’s the best drink.” He brings over the best cigars and his women. The guy turns and he goes, “I thought heaven was supposed to be better.” He goes, “Who said you were in heaven?” It’s something to think about, isn’t it? Here, we always get what we want and there’s no variety in your life. Everything is predictable if we don’t do something different. In life, we have to have ups and downs because it gives us growth. If we don’t have any ups and downs, we don’t have growth. Everything is predictable if you get everything you want. What makes us fulfilled? What’s the next level in life when you have everything? Life is about progress. It’s not about getting everything you want. It’s about going for it. You want to go for it but If everything is handed to you.
Oftentimes, I’ll be on stage and I’ll be talking, speaking and it’s weird how you realize that some of the super-achievers, some people that have gone through the worst of the worst, they’re the ones that have been abused in all kinds of ways: physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. They grow up and some of them are super achievers in life. Some people grow up and they seem they have everything in life. Everything was handed to them like that guy that died and he went to the new life. It seemed like heaven at first, but before you know it, what happens to those people that are handed everything? They had brand new cars when they graduate. They have the finest lifestyles. They don’t have to work for anything. Everything is handed to them. Oftentimes, they grew up to be on addictions, addicted to drugs and alcohol. They’re abusive, suicidal. Why is that? It’s because how do we develop our brain and have appreciation if we’re never earning anything?
If everything is handed to us and we’re never doing anything where we haven’t earned it, how do we appreciate what we have in life? It goes right back to what are you doing differently to have growth? If you’re doing the same thing over and over again, before you know it, your success doesn’t feel successful and fulfilled anymore. It just feels like an existence. You get comfortable and you’re complacent and the death of growth is complacent. You’ve got to have some variety. You’ve got to have new things happen in life because if you don’t, then people that are creative will pass you. When they pass you, it doesn’t matter if they’re your clients or your friends or their friends, they will by nature go somewhere else.
I remember in Grand Junction, Colorado, it’s all about sports. I remember this store has been around for years. It’s the only place they would go to get everything you could imagine for outdoor sports, fishing, hunting, skiing, whatever it was. Along came this company called Bass Pro Shop and Cabela’s and they built this in the mall. How long do you think it took for that store before it went out of business? All their customers that have been customers for 20 to 40 years have said, “We won’t leave you.” Guess what happened? They left. They didn’t want to at first. For the first few months, six months even, they wouldn’t go back, even though it paid a little bit more because they want to be loyal customers. What happened is there was no change there. You walk in the store and you knew where everything was, you knew what the prices were, and you knew all their names. You had great relationships. It was good prices, but there was no variety. Even if they weren’t going to buy something new just the idea that the variety in their eyes got to see something different, sparked to curiosity.If you're not willing to make a difference then your business and personal life will never grow. The Need For Constant Upgrades In Business
What do you do different in your life, in your business? If you don’t do something different, then you’re going to block these big chains that don’t make a change in their business. Who comes along and destroys them? Amazon. Are all businesses destroyed? No. Walmart’s still in business. Target’s still in business. Why is that some go out and some don’t? The difference is they’re consistently upgrading it and doing something that gives their customers and their clients something to look forward to. It gives them a reason to get out of the house to go somewhere. People don’t want to always shop online. They will for convenience. They want to get out and move. We’ve got to create movement in our life. It’s a natural thing for us that we want to do is create movement. If you’re not willing to make a difference and make some different moves, then your business and your personal life will never grow.
Sometimes we get stuck. We’re blinded by thinking that if we keep doing the same thing that we’ve done that has worked for many years and we don’t change anything, then we’ll have all this massive growth. We need new customers, but you need to take care of the old ones first and then attract new customers. How do you do that? How do you take care of the old and attract new ones? You come up with something different. What do you do differently every day in your life or in your business that’s going to attract that new customer? What would you want to see? If you were your customer, are you satisfied? If you’re honest with yourself, can there be growth? Are you listening to the three things that stop people from moving forward? One is they’re blinded by not seeing something different. They think the only thing they see is the same thing. When you walk into that sports store, you knew exactly where everything was, nothing was different. Everything was predictable.
The Importance Of Listening To Others And Your Clients
You could walk in there and you knew what aisle, where you can get it, what the brands were, who was going to help you, what days were they working, when were their hours, all that. You even knew when their sales were. They didn’t make any change. Everything appeared visually to be exactly the same and they never changed it. They’re blinded by their future by seeing it differently. The other thing is people don’t listen. They’re not hearing the new things that the people want to hear. What is your customer, your raving clients, your fan base wanting to hear that’s different? Do you want to go see the same movie over and over again? Do you want to see a movie that has something new with new technology, new films, new everything that makes it so much more interesting, with a new sound and everything else? When you’re listening, you hear something different.
Sometimes, you’re not listening to some new ideas that even the customer base is looking for. When was the last time you surveyed your customers or your clients, or even your spouse or your loved ones? Am I giving you and meeting your needs? What am I lacking? What can I give you? Listen to what they have to say instead of thinking that, “I know everything. I’ve been here. I do it. I’ve done it this way for a long time.” You don’t listen to anything else. How are you ever going to hear the things you haven’t heard before if you’re not listening to things you haven’t listen to. If you want to grow, how are you going to hear some things you’ve never heard before? You got to listen. If you can see the future and you can listen to new ideas. The other thing is you can’t do the same thing over and over again. You got to be mobile. You got to consistently make those moves because if you’re not making the moves, then what are you doing? You’re staying stuck. That’s where people procrastinate. They’re afraid to make a move.
It’s like, “What if I make this move and it doesn’t work? What if I make the move and somebody doesn’t like the way it looks, sounds or feels? What’s going to happen? I’m going to lose them.” You’re going to lose them by default if you don’t do something anyway. What do you have to do? What moves can you make that are different that you haven’t done? If you don’t make a different move, then you’re not going to get a different result. Are you making the different moves or are you listen to new ideas and are you seeing things differently than you have seen them before? If you can make some changes in those three avenues, even if they’re wrong, you’ll be creative. Being creative means you’ll have growth. It goes back to what I always like to talk about, what if you only increased or made a difference by 10% in those three areas?
Think about your personal relationship. Can you see your personal relationship getting better? What would you do to make it better? What would you have to hear or say and listen to, to make it better? What moves would you need to make or could make to make it better? That’s what you ask yourself. If you can increase it by 10% in those three areas, where do you think your life would be in growth? It’ll be so much bigger than you thought or imagine because you’re doing something different and you’ve got to do something different. What have you done in the past that’s the same that’s been working, too? You don’t want to destroy the rituals that had been working so well for you as well. You’ve got this conflict just to balance.
What are you doing every day that’s working and keeping you on track? What are the things? Are you creating energy? Are you grateful for certain things? Are you doing these things that are making you even more successful and keeping your mindset in the right direction? What I want you to do to see what’s happening is I want you to write down what you’ve done in the past and what moves haven’t you done, what haven’t you listened to and why do you feel you’re sometimes stuck like you’re immobile. If it feels immobile, that means that you’re micromanaging things. You never want to micromanage. You want to be productive. How do you become productive? You delegate things out at times. You take your time for yourself and you go where you need to go to clear your mind, clear your head, be creative, delegate out and don’t micromanage things.
Visualizing The Future And Raising Your Standards
If you’re micromanaging your business or your personal life, you’re not getting ahead, you’re going backwards. What can you write down that would be different for you that you’ve done in the past? The reasons I say write it down because then it triggers your subconscious mind and it goes from a thought to an action. When you go from a thought to an action, you’re starting down the track. That’s what I love about it. Where is that? What are you going to do differently? Visualize the future. When you visualize something, remember your mind does not know the difference between what is real from what you vividly imagine. Think about a dream. How many times have you woken up from a crazy dream that doesn’t even make any sense? It feels like you’re still in that dream. You know it’s just a dream, but the emotion is there until finally you clear your head and you wake completely up and you go, “That was a weird dream. That was strange. That’s what it is. If you can fantasize, create and imagine. When we were children, we were told, “Don’t think about it. Don’t imagine. Quit using your imagination. Quit daydreaming.” Why? That’s the most beautiful, creative part of life. We need to daydream. We need to fantasize. We need to imagine things bigger than we are. What happens is if our mind doesn’t know the difference, it’s going to think, “If I can go get it, I’m going to go get it.” If we limit ourselves, then why do we expect to get a different result? What if you were a kid at heart? A kid in your mind and there were no limitations? The only limitation is the limitation of limitations. That’s about it. If you think about it, that’s all your limitations are. It’s what you limit yourself to believe. What if you didn’t have a limitation on your belief? Can you imagine Jeff Bezos, the owner of Amazon, limiting himself? What if he just said, “If I invented Kindle, that’s it. I’ve arrived.” Will he have been successful? Absolutely. He took it to another level.
The only way to take it to another level is you’ve got to be so imaginational. You’ve got to imagine so much bigger than your life. Can you think about several years ago, a company like Amazon? Do you think they would be where they are? It’s almost unimaginable. The guy’s worth so much money and yet he loves doing crazy things. He’s an imagination kind of guy. He loves doing the space thing. He spends about $1 billion a year on space stuff. It’s his toy and he can do that. He has a right to do that because he likes to imagine. It’s that imagination that got him where he is in his business. It’s even going to get him there in his personal life. He’s fulfilled too. When you can dream and be a kid at heart, you don’t limit yourself. Many times, we have to be responsible. It’s one thing to be responsible. There are other parts of our life that we’ve let lie dormant for too long. It’s the creative part, the imagination part, the things that make us do things differently.
If we always do things the same to other people’s expectations, then how do we create something that is beyond our own imagination of somebody else’s? You don’t need to lower your imagination to somebody else’s expectations. You need to raise your standard and imagination and your expectation. If they can’t catch up, that’s not your situation. That’s not who you are. I will promise you one thing. When you raise yours, you’ll create new people in your life, new relationships that will absolutely see your vision and give you the opportunity to open that door. All you got to do is start walking through it. If you’ve got somebody that’s closing doors on you because they want to limit you because of their limitations. You don’t need to buy into other people’s limitations. You’ve got your own strengths and you rely on yourself. People will hold you back because they don’t believe they can do it. If they don’t believe they can do it, ask yourself, what have they been doing differently in their life to create some new goals, some new results? If they’re not doing anything different to create new results, then why should you follow that path? The quickest way to become successful in any area is to mirror match somebody who’s done it before.
You find somebody that you like that’s done it before and you do the same thing. If you don’t like the results somebody else has and you wouldn’t trade your life for theirs, that’s not the influence you want to be around. The influence you want to be around is who can I follow? Who can I be influenced by? How can I influence myself to get the results that I know I want and deserve? That’s the question to ask yourself. That’s how you’re getting your mindset for success and for the fulfillment, not just financial, in your relationship, in your business, in your personal life and the way you look at yourself. How do you view yourself? There’s always room to grow because we’re never going to stop growing. We’re going to take problems and turn them into solutions.
We’re going to welcome problems and say, “I love problems because it helps me grow. It’s another way that I can get to the top. It’s doing something that I haven’t experienced before and haven’t been able to do before because I’ve never come across this problem. Thank God, I got this problem.” That’s a different way of looking at it, isn’t it? If you don’t look at it that way, then you do not see it differently. You’re blinded by the things and you’re going down that same road. How many times have you gone down the same road and you don’t even realize what’s on the side of the road? You don’t even realize if it’s a business or a house, what color are the cars in the driveway, the houses, the trees and the yard? You don’t even take notice or pay attention to those because you’ve taken the same path so long. You’re blinded by that.
People are doing things on social media that you’re not even up to speed on that because you haven’t listened to some of the younger people because they say, “I’ve been around a long time, I got a lot more experience than these young whippersnappers.” What do you do? You don’t listen. When you don’t listen, then you miss out on the things that are happening on how fast this world is coming together when it comes to social media, with computers and things that are happening and being developed every day. Getting a computer, its lifespan is what before we outgrow it? A couple of years? Three or four years? Before you know it, you don’t need a new computer because you’re so outdated. Think about that. You got to listen to some other people. If you’re not willing to make some different moves, then you’re going to welcome into your life procrastination and you’re going to have fear. If you’re not willing to make a different move and take a little risk, then you’re going to be stuck.
Nobody wants to be stuck because if you’re stuck, other people are going to pass you. When you thought you were in the first place, you so far behind the last place that the people are lapping you. If they lap you, it’s only because you haven’t made a different move. What are you going to do differently? That’s the question you ask yourself. What are you committed to doing? Write down on one sheet of paper all the things you’ve done to get to where you are. Write down on another piece of paper what could you do differently every day to improve and get a better result. Use your imagination. Don’t be afraid to be creative because creativity is where growth comes from.
Remember some of those old TV programs, like The Jetsons and My Favorite Martian? The things that they would come across were just hilarious. I remember a wireless telephone on My Favorite Martian, some you don’t even know what that TV program is. What’s today? Cellphones are all over the place. With The Jetsons, all those things that we thought were crazy and goofy are becoming a reality. Isn’t that funny? You think about it from a cartoon world, the most imagination place. The world of the imagination comes to reality. If you can think about it and dream about it, it can be produced. Here’s what’s beautiful. Everything is already here. There’s nothing that isn’t already here. The only thing we’re doing is discovering something that’s already here that we haven’t discovered before. I remember Bob Proctor talking about, planes have been here since the world started.
They were learned and were discovered when we learned how to take the things out of the earth to create that’s already been here. We’re discovering things. What are you willing to discover because it’s already here for you? If you’re willing to open up your mind and discover and do something different. At that point, you’ll create something that is brand new for you. You’ll create a raving customer, raving fans and your relationships will explode. You’ll have more passion you’ve ever had in your business and in your personal life. Only increasing it by 10% in a few areas every day. What could you do differently on a daily basis to get the results that you dream and fantasize about? Answer that question and you’ll have the solution to being fulfilled.
